(Pics---left is from 1982 and right is from Summer 2017).
I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher from the time I was 8 years old. My teacher, Mrs. Diller instilled a love of learning in me that I knew I wanted to pass on to others.
I went to PS 219 here in District 25 from K-6th grade. Then I went to JHS(Junior High School) 218 (Campbell Jr. High School) from 1976-1979. It is no longer opened. It closed it's doors in 1985. I then went to John Bowne High School from 1979-1982.
I remember going back often to my elementary and JHS to visit my former teachers.
I then went to Queens College and received my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education. I also received my permanent extension in Gifted Education.
If you really think about it, I have lived, worked and gone to school very close to each other.
Then, I was lucky enough to begin my teaching career in 1988 at PS 165 and have never left.
I taught 2nd grade from 1988-1992. I then taught 1st grade from 1992-2012. I was then lucky enough to begin teaching students in the G/T program in September 2001 in first grade and then was blessed even more to teach G/T students in Grade 2 since September 2012 and have been blessed to be able to follow my second graders up to third grade beginning in 2014. I have been teaching third grade since 2014.
I am beginning my 36th year of teaching, all of which have taken place at 165 and I couldn't be more thrilled to be sharing all of what I love with all of you! I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade while here. I have been fortunate enough to be in the Gifted/Talented program since September 2001.
I am married for almost 33 years this summer to my husband Danny, and our daughter Liana will be 25 years old in January. Liana graduated from SUNY Oneonta in December of 2018. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.94. She then followed her dreams and is working in the Happiest Place on Earth--Walt Disney World. She works at EPCOT in Guest Relations. She is loving it. I miss her terribly.
I talk a lot about them.
I have a passion for music, but most of all have a passion for DISNEY and all that Walt Disney and his company stand for.
Are you ready for this exciting journey?..........I KNOW I AM!
